Major Facilities

Biotechnology research and education at the Centre has been given a significant boost by installation of a state-of-the-art DNA Sequencer and Liquid Handling System. This advanced technology will give the Faculty and Students at the Centre as well as the Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology Centre, a significant competitive advantage in sequencing. The Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India, contributed funds towards the instrument, strengthening the research activities in Biotechnology.

This system is one of the first to be installed in M.S. University Campus. The system components are :

• Model CEQ 8000 DNA analysis system fully automated, 8 capillary array.

• Biomek 2000 Bio Robotics Liquid Handling System complete with controller and bioworks software.

• Refrigerated Table Top Allegra 21 R Centrifuge.

• Microplate Reader.

• Genechip 3000 7G Microarray system.

• Light Cycler Realtime PCR.

A Green House for transgenic work has also been installed, in addition to the existing HPLC system, Refrigerated Centrifuge, Bioreactors etc.
